That I May Know Him

During the hardest year of my life, God revealed Himself to me as the God of all Comfort and the God who gives more grace. Although I knew Him already, I never knew Him in that way before. It deepened my relationship with Him.
Seven years later I was listening to a sermon about Mary, Martha and Lazarus. The preacher made the comment that Jesus revealed Himself to them as the resurrection and the life. It brought to my mind how God revealed Himself to me in my hard year. And a question was sparked in my mind. How many other ways does God reveal Himself?
I had in my mind that there are about eight attributes of God. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere present and so on. But now as I read the Bible, I started making a list of the ways God reveals Himself—what God says He is and what He does. I quickly became overwhelmed. I had three full A4 pages of facts. I realized that there is no end to knowing God. He is so big and great.
This book is an attempt to give a small glimpse of who God is.
My prayer is that if you already know God, this book will whet your appetite to know Him more. And if you don’t know Him personally, I pray that this book will help you to get started on your own journey of knowing our awesome God.
Eternal life is knowing God. And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. –John 17:3
It’s not enough to know all about God. Knowing about someone is not the same as knowing them. Knowing God is having a personal relationship with Him. And that relationship should always be growing.
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. –1 Peter 3:18
